Legal Matters: The San Bernardino County Superior Court Downtown Division (Historic) hears legal matters related to the following: Divorce (Dissolution of Marriage), Legal Separation, Nullity of Marriage, Child Support*, Child Custody, Child Visitation (Parenting Time), Domestic Violence Restraining Orders (DVRO), Domestic Partnership (Forming and Dissolving), Contempt of Court, Grandparents Rights Petitions, Stepparent Adoptions, Emergency Ex Parte Hearings, Child’s Name Change*, Family Law Mediation, Spousal Support (Alimony), Pet Custody**, and Request for Orders (Family Law Related).


*Child Support and Name Change Petitions filed in San Bernardino County may be heard in Child Support Court and Juvenile Dependency Court, respectively. San Bernardino Child Support Court is located 655 W 2nd St, San Bernardino, CA 92415. San Bernardino Juvenile Dependency Court is located at 900 E Gilbert St, San Bernardino, CA 92415. Also, Juvenile Dependency Court will not hear a petition for child’s name change unless there is also an underlying petition that is already filed in Juvenile dependency court (i.e. Petition for Removal of the Child, Petition to Terminate Parental Rights, etc.). **The family law court will not hear matters related to pet custody unless the petition is part of an underlying case (i.e. divorce, legal separation, DVRO, etc.).

Note: The drop box may be used for filing legal paperwork and making payments (no cash).

Note: Ex Parte Petitions (Emergency Request for Orders) should be filed with the court’s clerk if possible (as opposed to dropping the Ex Parte RFO in the drop box). Documents deposited in the drop box before 4:00 p.m. will be received on the same date. Documents filed or mailed to the San Bernardino Superior Court must be properly address as follows:
